Fieldrunners crafts a revolutionary DLC experience for the Apple iPad!

April 3, 2010 by AshleyMonif

Fieldrunners, the award-winning and top-selling iPhone and iPod Touch
game, is planning a revolutionary experience on Apple’s new iPad.

“We have chosen to name it ‘Fieldrunners for the iPad’ for a simple reason.” says Leo Montenegro, Creative Director of Subatomic Studios. “New features have been crafted to take full advantage of the iPad platform. It is not just another HD game port. You will still get to enjoy the same awesome game–with more fantastic graphics than ever–but we are adding new features that are game-changing, things that could not have been done on the iPhone. We are extremely excited as this brings the genre to a whole new level. When fans see what we have in store for them, they will be ecstatic. While we cannot reveal details just yet, let’s just put it this way: it’s one strategy, but double the fun!”

In addition to a ground-breaking experience, Fieldrunners for the iPad features:

- Awesome visual style with high-definition graphics
- Highly balanced, addictive and fun gameplay
- New, spectacular visual effects
- Music wonderfully themed to each environment
- New but intuitive interface elements
- All of the latest maps, fieldrunners, and towers – and more to come!

“We have created an entirely new way of playing Fieldrunners,” says Jamie Gotch, CTO of Subatomic Studios. “Once the iPad has launched, we will be able to fine-tune and test these new features so we can release them to our fans. You can also rest assured that we plan to support both free and paid DLC for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad well into the future.”

The iPad is being anticipated industry-wide to be as much of a game changer as the iPhone, featuring a cutting-edge full capacitive multi-touch interface for browsing, email, photos, video, music, games and books.

Fieldrunners for the iPad is available for purchase today for $7.99.

I was looking on the iPad fieldrunners app on the iTunes store, and it says that there are going to be three new maps coming out for the iPad Version. Will these maps also come out for the iPhone/iPod Touch Version?

It would nice if someone could find some time to fix the achievement bugs in the iPhone version now that this is out…

Hey, Look, the Fieldrunners runners game is awesome, but one thing is missing and that is multiplayer.
If two people can connect via bluetooth they could build there own field with towers and they could send fieldrunners by the amount of money that they have to their apponnent. So, with the money you have you build and send.
PLEASE! I beg you guys! do that it is a very cool idea.

Perfect game!

One problem…

The landscape mode is upside down – when you have the apple case for the iPad and use the stand. Simple fix so please do it!

Fieldrunners for Ipad has no challenge rounds. Is this going to come in the next update?

Bought the iPad version (already paid for the iphone version) because the description said that an update would be imminent that would “push the boundaries of what we think of as tower defense games”

Where’s that then?

I would still like to play the same size format on the iPad as the iPhone/iPod touch. I think the larger the screen the more difficult it could be. I personally think just blowing up the size of the elements makes it feel like it’s for young kids. I think the larger size makes it look goofy. I’m all in for same format with newer maps and new towers.

By the sounds of it they plan to continue to support iPhone version. I am glad to hear that seeing as some developers are only supporting their upas versions of their games and forgeting about the original platform that made them what they are. I’m fine with you guys making a map for the ipad only because it sounds like it’ll be something special but please make some more iPhone maps as well, I was super happy when new maps came out and brought them happily.

Beautiful game, but honestly, 1/4 of the levels just crashes on the iPad. It has been 6 weeks since it was released, that needs to be fixed ASAP.
